Lizanne, Sarah and Eric Dathe
Dear Friends, Family and Team ifm:

When we first learned about my cancer diagnosis, we kept the information very quiet and only told our immediate family members. Our hesitation to tell friends, co-workers and extended family was due in part to shock, disbelief and mostly fear.

As others learned about the diagnosis, we took comfort in the outpouring of support. Family members and friends offered their help by stopping in to check on us and dropping off meals. Get well cards arrived everyday, and emails were received from long-time friends.

We found that you, our support group, is what helps us through this day-to-day battle with cancer. Rather than keeping it to ourselves, we found that you make us stronger, help us stay positive, and give us hope.

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank Team ifm, my family, and my friends from far and wide. You've eased our burden and we are eternally grateful for your generosity, love and support.

All our love,
Lizanne, Eric and Sarah Dathe

It's almost impossible not to shout out this song when it comes on the radio. The melody and message so simple... "Lean on me, when you're not strong, and I'll be your friend... I'll help you carry on". It's a song about helping a friend share a burden, lending a hand when needed... giving your energy to someone who needs it more than you do. Well, one of our friends has a "burden" and needs our help to carry it through.

Our friend Lizanne Dathe is currently taking up the fight against Lung cancer. With her husband Eric and daughter Sarah beside her, Lizanne is working hard to get back to being a healthy wife, mother, friend and co-worker. The fight, however, not only comes at a great emotional and physical cost, but also great financial cost. Simple things we never think about, like parking or a meal when staying near the hospital, are not covered by insurance. And they add up over time. Fortunately... this is where we can help the most.

And so the 1st Annual Big Orange Run is born. This is a 5k run/ 1 mile walk to benefit Lizanne and her family. ifm efector is sponsoring the event so that all proceeds can go directly to the Dathes to help defray the high cost of fighting cancer. A small piece of mind so that Lizanne can put all of her energy into getting healthy.
